Rehome My Pet
Rehoming a pet is a difficult decision. Foothills Animal Rescue understands that not all homes and pets are a good fit. Our organization’s standard is to not pose any judgement on your reasoning or decision to rehome your pet and want to be able to help you in your situation.
How do I surrender my pet? Will you rehome my pet?
Foothills Animal Rescue is a managed admissions shelter. Below are links to the surrender applications.
COMPLETING THE APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE INTAKE OF YOUR PET.
Once you have completed the application, your application will be placed on a waiting list to be considered and reviewed. A staff member will contact you IF we approve the application and will coordinate an intake exam appointment.
INTAKE EXAMINATIONS DOES NOT GUARANTEE INTAKE OF YOUR PET.
Once the intake exam is completed, the staff will determine whether your pet is eligible for intake.
Some examples of reasons we may not intake your pet:
- Staff cannot safely handle the animal
- Medical resources, we may have too many current medical cases in our care to take an additional medical case/may not have enough isolation space to intake more medical cases.
- We do not have a foster placement available for the specific case
Are there alternatives to surrendering my pet?
Yes, there are multiple options and resources available:
- Home to Home is an online platform that helps you rehome your pet/s directly.
- The Arizona Pet Project creates systemic change and provides resources, so no families are forced to balance their own basic needs of food, shelter, and safety and the needs of their companion animals, often the only meaningful connection they have.
What information do I need to provide? You should be prepared to give details about your pet’s name, age, breed, and medical history. This helps staff provide the best care and find the right home.
