Sammy – Training, Teamwork, and Second Chances

Adopted: September 28, 2024

Through medical care, hand-signal training and community support, a hearing-impaired pup discovered his place in the world.

Sammy’s story is one of resilience and teamwork. Transferred to Foothills on August 15, 2023, he battled multiple challenges: Giardia, hearing impairment and later, emergency surgery for an intestinal blockage. Staff and volunteers worked tirelessly, learning hand-signal training to help him communicate and providing enrichment to set him up for success.

Sammy spent 362 days in our care before being adopted—only to be returned when his new family faced unforeseen housing issues. But Sammy’s spirit never wavered, and neither did ours.

On September 28, 2024, he found his true forever home. Sammy’s journey reminds us that with dedication and support, every animal can overcome obstacles and find the family they deserve.
