On a sweltering July day, a hiker discovered Garfield stranded in the desert, dehydrated and with burns on his paws. Though the hiker provided emergency care, he couldn’t offer long-term support—so Garfield came to us on July 15, 2024. During his intake, we learned he was FIV positive, but that never dimmed his gentle spirit.
For weeks, staff and volunteers treated his burns and provided ongoing medical care. Throughout it all, Garfield’s sweet and calm nature captured the hearts of everyone he met. After 25 days of healing and love, Garfield was adopted on August 9. His journey from suffering in the desert to a safe and loving home is a testament to the compassion and dedication behind every rescue.
