When Esperanza arrived on September 9, 2024, her tiny two-pound frame and unsteady walk tugged at our hearts. She appeared to have neurological issues, along with an atrophied left eye, leaving us concerned about her future. But Esperanza only wanted one thing: to be held and loved. After evaluation with our veterinary partners, she was diagnosed with Microphthalmia in her left eye and medial strabismus (cross-eye) in her right. While her vision was impaired, she was otherwise healthy.
When her left eye began causing painful swelling, surgery was the best option. Esperanza underwent enucleation surgery and recovered in a loving foster home, where she blossomed into a playful and affectionate kitten. On November 13, she found her forever home. Esperanza’s story reminds us that every life is worth saving, no matter the obstacles.
